Need Help Choosing a Stairlift
Are my stairs suitable?
There is a stairlift available to suite nearly all staircases. There are
stairlifts which have been designed with a compact carriage and rail, along with
folding arms, seat and foot rest to make them fold away neatly on the narrowest
staircases. Other stairlifts have been designed for staircases with bends,
intermediate landings and corridors. Curved lifts need to be tailormade so we
would need to come to your home to survey your staircase. This is completely free
with no obligation purchase.
How is the stairlift fitted?
The stairlift is fitted directly to the tread of the stairs, iand not to the
wall, which means that your decorating will be left intact.
Will you buy back my lift if I no longer require it?
Yes, but please don't be disillusioned! The price we offer may be considerably
less than the price you orginally paid for your stairlift. Give A1 Stairlifts a
call and we can offer you a price for your stairlift. As we supply reconditioned
stairlifts, we are always interested in buying lifts back. Your stairlift may
need to be inspected by one of our engineer to enable us to make a fair offer on
your lift.
Will A Stairlift make it awkward for other people walking up and down
the stairs?
When your stairlift is not in use, all seats, pedistals and arm rests fold away
allowing full acess to your stairs until you need it again.
How much do stairlifts cost?
Stairlifts vary in cost, due to the shape and size of the staircase, and the age
of your stairlift. Reconditioned lifts are obviously a cheaper option, and we
can provide rental stairlifts too.
What happens in a power cut?
If you are unfortIf you are unfortunate to have a powercut, unless you have a battery powered
stairlift, your stairlift will stop. Battery powered lifts automatically charge
at the top or bottom of the stairs to ensure that the battery is always on full
charge for such an eventuality.
Are they noisey?
The quality of home stairlifts are of a high standard and most models operate
silently. If you are very sensitive to noise, opt for a battery operated lift
which offer the smoothest and quietest ride.
Which stairlift is best for me?
Your health and environment have a direct impact on your choice of stairlift.
For instance, if you suffer from strong backache, you should opt for a model
with a soft start and finish system. If you have poor hand dexterity, a toggle
switch or joystick will help you operate your lift. Your staircase set up also
has a direct impact (e.g. doors or thresholds near the staircase, bulkheads or
banister rails, radiators near the staircase). The easiest way to tell which
stairlift models are most appropriate to you and your home is to
contact us and organise a free no obligation quote
with one of our engineers.
What happens if my lift breaks down?
Simply call the &Simply call the "within 24 hour" callout number and the engineer will get your
stairlift going again. You will be given the call out number when we install
your lift. We do provide a selection of service plans but we will still come out
to you if you don't take a policy out.
Do Your Stairlifts Have Any Safety Features?
Most stairlifts nowadays have safety features from seat belts and safety locks
(incase you have little children playing nearby) to Safety cut-out sensors which
will stop the lift if an object gets in the way. All safety features are
included in the descriptions for each lift.
